Great Lakes Recovery Women’s New Hope House is a residential treatment center that has provided gender-specific, evidence-based care along with clinically supervised withdrawal and relapse prevention since its establishment in 1988. Women battling addiction have the unique opportunity to have their children, aged 11 and younger, remain with them during their stay at the center. An initial assessment helps establish the suitable level of care, and upon entry, clients collaborate with therapists to create a tailored and comprehensive treatment plan that addresses crucial life issues associated with their addiction. Through the program for women and families, clients can bring along their children, ensuring that parents and kids can remain united during treatment. On-site childcare is offered for younger children, allowing mothers to participate in daily sessions, while assistance with educational options is available for older children. To bolster support for mothers in recovery and their families, children aged 5-11 can enroll in weekly therapeutic sessions, while mothers engage in weekly group or individualized parenting classes. Each mother receives a specialized assessment aimed at recognizing her family's needs and connecting them with relevant resources. Great Lakes Recovery fosters a safe, nurturing, and home-like atmosphere for mothers and their children. The rooms are designed to be inviting and spacious, allowing families to stay together in comfortably furnished suites. Common areas and hallways are bright and aesthetically pleasing, encouraging clients to share meals, participate in chores, engage in group therapy, and enjoy recreational activities as a community. The local educational system is very supportive of the center’s clients and children, and the facility itself ensures a low-security environment with staff available 24/7 for assistance. During their time in the residential program, clients are involved in structured group sessions addressing various recovery topics and techniques, prompting personal exploration in their healing journeys. Additionally, each client is paired with an individual counselor for regular meetings to help identify strengths, set goals, build support networks, and utilize available resources. This communal living setup fosters social interaction among patients, enhancing social skills and relationships through shared meals and cooperative daily activities. In addition to individual therapy, trained staff conduct daily group therapy sessions focused on developing practical life and recovery strategies, with a specialization in women's care. These sessions cover a range of subjects including mindful cognitive behavioral therapy, achieving balance, safety strategies, women’s health issues, parenting support, exercise, planning for life changes, nutrition, and spirituality. Great Lakes Recovery also offers transitional and aftercare planning, guiding clients in locating community resources and ongoing care.
