Situated in the eastern part of New Orleans, Oceans Behavioral Hospital Marrero specializes in treating various mental health disorders. This facility offers intensive outpatient (IOP) programs addressing issues such as anger management, anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, grief, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), schizophrenia, self-injury, stress, trauma, substance abuse, and co-occurring conditions. Their therapeutic approaches encompass individual counseling, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), group therapy, medication oversight, relapse prevention strategies, relaxation techniques, and 12-Step programs. For clients aged 20 to 62, they provide a residential treatment option, with daily evaluations of progress and medication by the psychiatric care team. The STAR program at Oceans Behavioral Hospital Marrero caters to active-duty service members, veterans, and their families who face mental health challenges, including combat stress and issues stemming from prolonged separations. Family members engage in group therapy sessions alongside other military families facing similar challenges. To join the STAR program, clients must secure a referral from the Department of Defense (DoD) or the Department of Veterans Affairs. Oceans Behavioral Hospital operates multiple facilities across Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, and Oklahoma, many of which focus on mental health treatment related to aging or military experiences. An increasing number are also dedicated to adolescent mental health care. Many of these locations collaborate and share resources with nearby centers. The Marrero branch shares resources with Oceans Behavioral Hospital Bellemeade and Oceans Behavioral Hospital Kenner, collectively referred to as Oceans Behavioral Health of the Greater New Orleans area. Although all three facilities offer the STAR program, they differ in their range of other programs and client demographics.
The center specializes in the treatment of mental health disorders alongside substance use issues. Here, you will benefit from a personalized, team-based approach that focuses on addressing both challenges for a comprehensive recovery experience.
