WomenSafe has been assisting survivors of domestic violence in Northeast Ohio since 1980. Operating as a nonprofit resource center and emergency refuge, its goal is to ensure safety, provide support, and advocate for individuals and families escaping abusive situations. The center engages in community education and outreach to heighten awareness and contribute to the prevention of future violence. Survivors can access a variety of complimentary and confidential services, including emergency shelter, court advocacy, and trauma-informed therapy for both adults and children. In addition, the center offers art and play therapy, peer-led support groups, as well as employment and housing assistance, along with a unique Empowered Parenting program. Each of these services is designed to help survivors heal from trauma and rebuild their lives with a sense of dignity and security. The center combines shelter facilities, trained staff, and community outreach in a safe environment. Survivors have access to essential household items, donated furniture, and support for relocation. Aftercare services include ongoing contact, connections to resources, and assistance with basic necessities. Programs focusing on community education and peer support play a crucial role in fostering long-term recovery and having a significant impact that extends beyond the walls of the shelter.
At this center, clients are offered individualized support for various mental health challenges. The facility delivers therapeutic interventions and customizes treatment plans to align with your specific requirements, diagnoses, and preferences.
