Jaywalker is a specialized rehabilitation center focused on treating men facing substance use issues alongside co-occurring mental health disorders. Unlike many facilities that offer a 30-day stay—often insufficient for lasting recovery—Jaywalker implements a comprehensive treatment strategy starting with an intensive 90-day inpatient program. This plan continues with aftercare and numerous follow-up options. Clients progress through Jaywalker’s various levels of support, which include partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient services, supplemented by transitional living arrangements and a family support program. The center takes advantage of the stunning Roaring Fork Valley, allowing participants to engage in outdoor activities that complement their healing journey. At Jaywalker, a strong community of individuals—including staff, volunteers, and clients—works together, deeply grounded in the principles of the 12 Steps. With a focus on chronic relapse, the center recognizes that many who return to treatment do so due to difficulties in fully understanding and applying Step One. Clients will be encouraged to explore how substance use has affected their lives, helping to unearth the deeper issues surrounding their addiction. By integrating evidence-based therapies with holistic practices, Jaywalker aims to address the healing of mind, body, and spirit. Their therapeutic toolkit includes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), alongside a range of outdoor adventures and service activities to reinforce social connections and a sense of purpose. Understanding the link between chronic relapse and co-occurring disorders, Jaywalker evaluates dual diagnoses from multiple perspectives to tailor treatment strategies effectively. Their integrative team consists of a board-certified medical director, trained clinicians, addiction experts, and mental health specialists, ensuring a comprehensive approach to complex cases that involve a variety of psychological and trauma-related challenges. The transitional living program at Jaywalker serves to ease the shift from intensive care to self-sufficient living. This includes both 90-day intensive outpatient and standard outpatient programs, as well as a sober living environment with 24-hour staff support and independent living spaces in close proximity to their main facility. An active alumni network offers multiple ways for past clients to remain engaged, featuring networking events, regular meetings, and volunteer opportunities. Clients spend significant time engaged in outdoor activities, promoting "meditation in motion" through fishing, golfing, hiking, mountain biking, climbing, skiing, and snowshoeing. Inpatient accommodations feature a well-appointed lodge with modern shared rooms, and one of the highlights of the Jaywalker experience is the communal family-style dinners, thoughtfully prepared by their skilled chef. The center emphasizes maintaining supportive connections with family and friends, allowing communication via landline phones and client computers to facilitate the recovery process.
